Top 10 Hip Hop Blogs & Hip Hop Sites
74Top 10 Hip Hop Blogs & Hip Hop Sites
Here are the top 10 Hip Hop Blogs & Hip Hop Sites. There is a plethora of different hip hop blogs, hip hop sites, and rap sites to find out the latest in hip-hop news, celebrity gossip, music and more. In this technological day and age, it takes a lot for a website to keep viewership up and to stand out from the pack. Internet users and surfers have short attention spans and are constantly ingesting info through various outlets. The more media outlets a website has to inform and entertain a user, the better. Sites that have current and up-to-date hip hop news, exclusive rap music, incorporate radio podcasts and videos and promote user participation fare much better than the one-dimensional sites. Here is a closer look at the top ten multimedia hip-hop sites, how they compare to each other and if each site is worth the time to scroll through.
HipHopHoney.com
HipHopHoney.com uses several types of media venues to focus on hip-hop. Whether it’s up-to-date hip hop news and celebrity gossip, exclusive interviews, new or never-heard-before hip-hop tracks and songs, the latest developments in crime, punishment and the hip hop community such as Juvenile’s recent arrest and the rejection of rapper Remy’s current appeals case, official rap music videos, in-depth editorials, weekly highlights from the NBA, popular television show recaps, live reports from the red carpet, up and coming model contests, a radio show, HipHopHoney TV and a magazine that will soon be offered offline, this hip hop site; is the number one place to stay connected with the hip hop culture. The music site also offers an outlet for unsigned and underground artists to display their talents. It is no clue why this hip hop site is a one-stop shop for users to keep their pulse on the rap beat and hip hop lifestyle. Rated: Five clicks
AllHipHop
AllHipHop
AllHipHop.com says it all in their name. Whether it is up-to-date hip hop news, new music from well-known, underground or new rap artists alike, exclusive interviews, juicy hip hop gossip and rap rumors or their TV channel, this site revolves 100 percent around hip-hop music. The popular rap music site also has a forum for users to discuss trending topics, the latest hip-hop and rap albums and all things concerning the hip hop community. AllHipHop.com also covers political topics that involve the hip hop community, such as rapper Rhymefest’s current quest to become Chicago’s 20th Ward Alderman in the upcoming April run-off race with incumbent candidate Willie Cochran. RapRadar
RapRadar.com covers everything from rap music, new releases, rap singles and freestyles, hip hop and rap album reviews, interviews with numerous rap artists, videos and behind-the-scene footage from photo shoots, to the latest in hip-hop news and celebrity updates. Every now and again there is some R&B news on popular singers, like the very short-lived Twitter beef between Ciara and Rihanna, but this site focuses primarily on rap, perfect for die-hard rap fans. Affiliated with RadarOnline.com, this popular rap site keeps their viewers informed with rap news such as Ghostface denying dissing newcomer Wiz Khalifa and freestyles from XXL’s Freshman Class of 2011. Rated: Three and a half clicks
Bossip
Bossip.com, like their tag line says, is gossip for the hardcore. The site has breaking news, celebrity gossip, exclusive interviews and videos but if you like to stay plugged in to new music or underground artists, HipHopWired.com, which is affiliated with Bossip, may be a better option. This site also features viral videos, some of which include teenagers and young adults fights in the streets and on public transportation, which glorifies the very negative images and behavior that the site claims to hate.

MissInfo
MissInfo.tv is a blog run by Minya Oh, better known as Miss Info, journalist and on-air radio personality at New York City’s hip-hop station Hot 97. The site focuses on new music and celebrity updates. However, if you’re looking from posts from Miss Info, who became known for her opinionated celebrity reports, she only blogs once or twice a week. Rated: Three clicks
GlobalGrind.com
GlobalGrind.com, financed by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, features celebrity news and updates, new music and mixtapes, celebrity blogs, interviews and videos. This site focuses more on hip-pop than hip-hop, meaning you can log on to look at the latest photos of Justin Bieber with his girlfriend at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and pictures of Waka Flocka Flame’s latest pendant on one site. If you’re a fan of pure hip-hop and are more interested in hearing Joell Ortiz’ latest single, “Cocaine,” this site isn’t for you. Rated: Three clicks
SOHH
SOHH.com
SOHH.com keeps you informed with hip-hop news, exclusive interviews and videos. This site, updated several times throughout each day, contains a lot of information and articles from other sites. Although it is all accredited, the problem with relying on other sites for information means you could have found the exact same article somewhere else an hour earlier. This site has a forum for users to interact with each other but has been hacked several times through this forum. If you were interested in hearing the latest singles and freestyles from your favorite artists, you’d be hard-pressed to find it on this site.

Mediatakeout
MediaTakeOut.com
MediaTakeOut.com, which boasts the claim of “Most visited urban site in the world,” features celebrity gossip and rumors. Although updated daily, usually in the morning, it is only done once so if you check out the latest gossip and rumors in the morning and then log back on in the afternoon or at night and you will see the same posts. The hip-hop site also promotes lies. They will gladly and knowingly post an image that has been photo-shopped. For viewers looking for new music, this isn’t the best site to stay informed.

WorldStarHipHop.com
WorldStarHipHop.com is a popular hip-hop video-based website. The content featured are usually interviews, official music videos and behind-the-scenes footage of hip-hop artists. Videos that are submitted by users looking for promotion are charged a small fee to upload a video on their site. What they don’t tell you is that the small fee is really several thousand dollars. Q, the owner of the WSHH, may be best known for the video that has been circulating around for the past two months of him being screamed at and chastised like a child by rapper/mogul 50 Cent during an interview with Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez. If you’re looking for celebrity news and gossip, new music or the video of Q being punked, look elsewhere. Rated: One click

WSHH Is #1 on my list. The abundance of video amateur and professional is great and exclusive. I like how they also post non-related videos that are bizarre and funny.
ughh, hiphopdx, datpiff...

These sites are all very good, but my favorite is www.thraxnation.com because they only have the best of the best when it comes to rap/hip hop music. All the songs, mixtapes, and albums are brand new and downloadable.
